That far out paces the 1.7 billion in flowers and the $1.5 billion in candy. They also state that online searches for jewelry between December 25, 2011 and January 8, 2012 were up 42% over last year. Google's research also showed that people were starting their online searches for Valentine's Day gifts a few days earlier than previous years.
Changing our search query from "valentine day gift ideas" to "valentine day jewelry gifts" we see a variety of jewelry related sites. Blue Nile stands out as the biggest jewelry retailer in the organic SERP results. We also see YouTube videos, blogs, and Google+ posts all relating to Valentine's Day jewelry gift giving.
There's no telling when someone will search so you website needs to be prepared for Valentine's Day search magnetism way before early January.
Let's start today!
Over the last few days, and probably even today, you've probably heard several romantic customer stories. Instead of trying to create random blog posts about Valentine's Day you could create a collection of "true" Valentine's Day stories.
Today, while these customer stories are still fresh in your mind, write them down as brief stories. In your story make sure to include first names and especially the town names where the person lives in order to capture that valuable local search. You also need to include a description of the jewelry purchased. Add each story to the blog of your website, and keep each of them short, no longer than this Daily Golden Nugget. You can post them in your blog, or some other area of you site. Just make sure Google can find those pages.
Oh, and make sure your story includes these 3 phrases:
valentine's day gifts
valentine's day gift ideas
valentine's day jewelry gifts
For an extra boost of love-enhanced website success, you could link a few of your online products to the Valentine's stories. Include a link in the jewelry items description to the blog page.
Although the time has passed for this to benefit you this year, you are laying the needed groundwork for Google to reward you next year.
The bottom line point is this: Sure you can create fictional Valentine's Day stories a few months from now while you are trying to build links and online reputation. But it's much easier to let yourself be inspired by those true stories you've been hearing over the past few days.
Life is always more interesting than romantic fiction.
