In this week's set of Gold Nuggets we are focusing on specific features within Google Analytics. Each highlighted feature will help you understand a little more about your website and your visitors.
Additionally, every day until August 29th we are broadcasting live webinars at http://www.jwag.tv
The broadcast schedule is Weekdays at 12:30pm Eastern time, Saturdays at 10am and Sundays at 2pm. All broadcasts are being saved on the jwag.tv website until September 4, 2010.
Now for today's Gold Nugget...
Through Google Analytics you can see all the towns your website visitors came from. When you log into your account you will notice a green color map of the world toward the bottom right of your screen. Click on the United States. From there, click on the darkest state, it should be you state.
The map will zoom in and show you a yellow state with orange dots. Each dot represents a different town where visitors came from. The larger the dot the more visitors, and the largest dot should be your store's town.
Scrolling down a little on that page you will see the town names listed with the number of visitors from each.
Review this list carefully, and ask yourself why your visitors are coming from those towns. What off-line marketing campaign lead those people to your website? What on-line marketing campaign lead those people to your website?
This is one of the ways Google Analytics can help you measure the ROI of your marketing.
